The HOME-X Hand Crank Paper Document Shredder is a small, manual paper shredder suitable for shredding thin single pieces of paper such as store receipts, ATM receipts, index cards, small tags, labels, and notes. It is made in China and does not require oil or special sharpening or lubrication sheets. The shredder has a 6-1/2 inch width and 5-inch feeder opening and can shred with ease on regular paper and card stock after tearing or folding the paper. The product is not strong enough for cutting credit cards, silk paper, or thicker pieces of paper such as newspapers. Some customers had issues with the plastic handle slipping off while trying to shred thicker paper, but this can be resolved by using a metal tool instead of the plastic handle. The blades might get out of alignment and there were gaps where it would not cut after a few uses, but they can be realigned. The shredder is not suitable for heavy-duty applications and the lid has a habit of coming off while using it. It is a great product for children and it works well enough for the price, but some people might prefer to invest in an electric shredder for larger tasks.
